Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang - City tour
On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transfer to hotel for check-in. Luang Prabang is a first Laos’ ancient Royal capital, now preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After check in, enjoy the town sightseeing including the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai, then walk up to the top of mount Phousi with 328 steps to explore the sacred, gilded stupa as well as capture a beautiful view of the city and the Mekong River at sunset. The today sightseeing will end by visit the Night Market, where you can browse a lovely selection of handmade textiles, made by the local people and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 2: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou caves (B)
Early morning (at 5.30AM or 5.45AM, depending on the season), the procession of a hundred monks and novices pass the main street on their alms round. This offers us the opportunity to “make merit” by donating food to the monks, while we in turn receive their blessing, and it can be a wonderful early morning photographic opportunity.
After breakfast, visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River to visit Pak Ou caves in the side of a lime stone cliff and opposite of the mouth of the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers. On the way, time for visiting some Lao typical villages. Ban Xanghai, the famous village for rice whisky. Ban Xangkhong, the well-known village for its wood paper making and also traditional silk weavings.
In the afternoon, visit the local market of Luang Prabang then excursion to visit the beautiful Kwangsi Waterfall. Stopover at Ban Na Ouan, a Hmong ethnic village, you will see Hmong ladies pass their time in sewing and sell their handmade products in the village. Arriving at the falls, easy walk through the jungle, passing the turquoise pools where you can cool off with a refreshing swim. Also visit the bear rescue centre, which is set in the waterfall area. After relax or stroll around and admire the beauty natural surroundings, return to town by late afternoon. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang - Elephant Riding - Soft Trekking (BL)
Elephant and soft hiking tour to Khmu Ethnic Village
(Walking time total 3 hours) (Easy), in dry season Tad Sae waterfall is dry)
After arriving at the Elephant Camp you will experience and enjoy your (approx. 1 hour) elephant trek into the rain forest and down to the Nam Khan River. You will be able to feed elephants by bananas as a way to say “thank you’’ to them
A short and easy hiking tour will lead you out into a small Khmu community lives below a high rising mountain range. Depending on the time available your Lao style Lunch will be served at Ban Houay Fai and then return to Tad Sae waterfall, boat ride to Ban Ean. then drive back to Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 4: Luang Prabang - Departure (B)
After breakfast, visit the National Museum, which was the former Royal Palace. Now is a museum displaying exhibition galleries and throne rooms. Tour ends after transfer you to airport for departure.
