Salavan Province is located in the south of the country on the Bolaven Plateau. Its capital is Salavan. Its area 10.691 Km2 and its population is 336.600 inhabitants with the density of 31 inhabitants/Km2. To the North, it has border witn Savannakhet Province, to to East – small border with Vietnam, to the South – Sekong and Champassak Provinces and to the West – Thailand (separated by the Mekong River). It has 8 districts.
